Targeted bodywork for athletes and active bodies, whether you're preparing for an event, recovering from one, or keeping your body moving well between workouts.
Sports massage is focused bodywork designed for people who train, compete, or simply live an active life. It combines targeted pressure, stretching, and techniques from deep tissue work to address the muscles you use most, relieve tightness from repetitive movement, and support mobility and recovery.
Unlike a general relaxation massage, a sports session is built around your activity, your training, and the specific areas that need attention.
Pre-event: A lighter, energizing session in the days before a race or big event to loosen muscles and help you feel ready to move.
Post-event: Recovery-focused work after a race, long hike, or hard training block to ease soreness, calm overworked muscles, and restore mobility.
Maintenance: Regular sessions during training to work out tight spots, keep you moving well, and help you stay consistent.
At Angels Touch Professional Massage in Downtown Boise, every sports session starts with a conversation about your activity, your goals, and where you're feeling it. Shanda brings over 25 years of professional massage experience and tailors pressure and technique to your body, working intuitively around old injuries and focusing on common problem areas like the neck, shoulders, hips, hamstrings, calves, and IT band. Assisted stretching can be woven in to improve range of motion.
"I came here after racing Ironman 70.3 Boise, and Shanda gave me an amazing sports massage. She did amazing work on my neck and shoulders, which improved my mobility and relieved pain."
Katie H. · Google ReviewBoise is an active town, and sports massage is a great fit for runners, triathletes, cyclists, hikers, skiers, climbers, lifters, and weekend warriors. It's also helpful for anyone with a physical job or a regular workout routine who wants to recover faster and move more freely.
We'll talk through your training, any recent events, and the areas you want addressed. Your session combines targeted massage with stretching as needed, and we'll check in about pressure throughout. Most clients leave feeling looser and more mobile, and some mild soreness afterward is normal after focused work. Drinking water and light movement afterward can help.
